HEADLINE: The passing of Grandma Huang and Vigil /黄婆婆逝世和纪念大会
San Francisco, CA, 1/3/2020, 7pm
Dear Community Leaders, City Officials, and Members of the Media,
With a heavy heart, we are here to inform you that Guandma Huang Yik Oi (a.k.a. Huang Popo) has passed away today, 1/3/2020, at 4:45pm at Laguna Honda Hospital.
Nearly one year ago on 1/8/2019, at about 6am, Grandma Huang was brutally attacked when she was doing her routine exercises in the Visitacion Valley Playground across from her home. She suffered through massive pain and had been clinging for her life courageously.
Grandma Huang’s passing falls onto the dawn of an event that we have been planning for the one-year anniversary of the attack. We have planned to hold the Healing through Compassion & Solidarity Silent Sit-In on 1/8/2020 from 7:30am – 10am, to remember the time of the incident, to shine light to the trauma, to heal our hearts, and to turn pain into purpose by building solidarity across the communities.
We are also saddened to report that the family will face a huge financial burden to bring forth the funeral. The family has gone through a year of unexpected emotional and financial hardship. We are asking the public to assist in the process of sending Grandma Huang off in grace and respect.

On 1/8/2020, the one year anniversary of the attack on Grandma Huang Yik Oi, we use silence to say no more to the constant violence in our communities. In silence, we unite in our pain and grief to heal. We practice being what we want in this world: love, empathy, justice, kindness, peace, joy, generosity.

我们谨在此通知您，黄奕爱婆婆 已于1/3/2020 下午4:45在Laguna Honda医院去世。
大约一年前，在1/8/2019 早上6点左右，黄奶奶在她家对面的访谷区公园做例行的晨运时遭到残酷的袭击。 她遭受了巨大的痛苦，并一直顽强地活了近一年。
黄婆婆的逝世刚好发生在我们为袭击事件的一周年所计划的“沉思集会”的前夕。 我们计划在2020年1月8日上午7:30am – 10am 举行 《以恻隐之心和团结互助的精神治愈心灵》沉思集会，以记住事件发生的时间，聚焦我们的创伤，治愈我们的心灵，并通过团结社区以化悲痛为力量。
我们也很遗憾地报告，黄婆婆的家人为举行葬礼，将面临巨大的经济负担。 这个家庭在过往一年经历了飞来横祸的精神痛苦和经济困难。 我们要求公众协助，以体面的方式，尊送黄婆婆往生。
我们代表家人要求两件事：
1）邀请您参加 2020年1月8日上午7:30am – 10am 举行 《以恻隐之心和团结互助的精神治愈心灵》沉思集会 （见下）。活动结束后将提供新闻采访机会。
