[San Francisco, CA] You are invited to attend a Press Conference on Monday, 7/22/2019 at 11am by CCBA at its San Francisco Headquarters at 843 Stockton Street, 94108.

The 7/15/2019 violent incident has escalated to an alarming level, because two major community leaders of CCBA were viciously attacked and knocked unconscious in broad daylight in busy Chinatown. This is the 8th high profile violent crime, since the beginning of the year, that targets seniors and members of the Chinese community.

Urgent invitations to Supervisors, Law Enforcement, Mayor’s Office and related officials have been extended. All leaders in every corner of the Chinese community will convene at this meeting to strategize an emergent solution to protect seniors and every community member.

On 7/15/2019, at approximately 1:15pm, two Chinese community leaders were violently robbed in broad daylight in busy Chinatown. Three perpetrators came from the back, and surrounded Zhonghua Huang/黄中华 [English name phonetically translated from the Chinese name], head of the Huang Benevolent Association – one of the biggest benevolent associations in Chinatown. They then lifted him up and threw him head first on the ground. Zhonghua Huang lost consciousness for a few minutes. His watch was taken from him. His friend Hongchang Huang/黄宏昶 [English name phonetically translated from the Chinese name], the Chinese Secretary at CCBA, who followed closely, came to confront the perpetrators but got punched bloody in the face. Hongchang Huang was also knocked unconscious for a little while.

The 7/22 Press Conference will start with a review of the recent high profile horrific crimes that took place in Chinatown, Visitacion Valley, Excelsior, Outer Mission and other parts of the community.

The head of the seven benevolent associations that comprise the CCBA, including the Substitute President for one of the victims who heads the Huang Association, will report in turn the proposed actions from their respective associations.

Officials will update the community about the progress of the 7/15/2019 case. They will speak about how to proceed in resolving this severe and escalating problem.

All leaders in the community have been invited to attend and contribute their thoughts.

Communities As One will share the Five Recommendations on Public and Personal Safety that have been presented to the City Government on 7/1/2019, in response to the 88-year old Visitacion Valley victim Huang Popo’s brutal beating.

This is a rallying cry for help and action. Under CCBA’s leadership, the Chinese community wishes to raise awareness of this alarming situation, and asks for help from all communities in order to formulate an action plan to immediately protect the most vulnerable segment of the population.

We hope you will be there to listen and support the dire needs of this suffering community that is an integral part of our City.

843 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
